Now I can try 30 or 40 attempts and very occasionally I am lucky but mostly I give up.This article applies to Microsoft Edge version 77 or later on Windows 8 and Windows 10. Then gradually the situation deteriorated to required 7 or 8 attempts (with sometimes a new meassage "Will open when complete" and then further worsened to 15 to 20 attempts. Generally within 1 or 2 retries the file downloaded. Then, when attempting a download, I would get a "Can't download" message and be presented with a retry option.
Up until about 2 months ago, I didn't experience any problems. However on the HP I have problems with both Edge and Chrome with the problems being worse on Edge.
I have no problems downloading files from the web on either the Acer or the Mac using either Edge,Chrome or Safari. The HP and Acer both run the same versions of Win 10 and MS Edge Apple Macbook Pro MacOS 11.2.3 MacOS 11.2.3 / Safari & Google Chrome
